London skate culture
Skate culture in London comes in many different forms, however all skaters share a passion, no matter the weather passionate skaters will always find a place to shred, weather that be at the skatepark, in the streets, undercover car parks, DIY's or the place featured in this photograph Baysixty6 in north Kensington. Baysixty6 has a huge impact not only on the surrounding skate community but also much further afield, At Baysixty6 their vision is to 'provide children, youth and people of all ages and backgrounds with top class sporting facilities where they can mix and socialise in a safe, supervised environment where they can experience on-going learning of new skills and challenge themselves further'.
In 1996 beneath the Westway the land now known as Baysixty6 was just a derelict space, now 23 years later here stands a hub for skater from all backgrounds. Since 1996 when plans were first drawn up for a Skate Park to improve use of derelict land on Bay 66 & 65 underneath the Westway, the A40, in London’s North Kensington, the operators have worked with the local community to provide and deliver improving services and facilities promoting and furthering Skateboarding as an urban sport
